Description

A 41 m2, two rooms, ground floor office/apartment. Comfortable for one, okay-ish for two.

Larger room is both my kitchen and office, while the smaller one is a bedroom / shoe closet. The bathroom is quite large, with a washing machine and shower. The kitchenette has a dishwasher, but no oven. Mind you, the title is no joke, the ceiling is pretty low, and there are no panorama windows, to say the least. Surprisingly much of daylight, though, whenever that’s available here in the North. Pictures will follow, as soon as.

I’m a curator and my studio is basically the corner of the sofa, but there is a quite large office table as well, and a couple of square meters free floor space. This flat is probably most suitable for another curator, or an artist of (very) small scale works, or with a separate studio. Tips about the Helsinki art scene are provided, whether you ask for them or not.

The flat is situated in the fringe of the overtly picturesque wooden house area of Vallila, close to Academy of Fine Arts and quite close to the Theatre Academy. The ex-industrial area with a lot of artists’ studios is also just a few blocks away. Connections to the center are pretty good, buses run from a block away and trams right in front of the building. There is a small 24h food store around the corner, and a fancier one close by. And, most important: the absolutely recommendable cafés Päiväkahvibaari, Sävy and Pequeno are in the neighbourhood.

Being a ground floor flat, the space is quite easily accessible, no stairs as such, but unfortunately there is a cluster of tresholds, altogether 10cm, and an inside door only 70 cm wide, so probably not suitable for wheelchair. But, when in doubt, ask for more details!

Right now I’m planning to spend some time in London in the end of November 2020, so that is (and always will be) my number one swap option. Anyhow, I’m open to any suggestions to any area, reachable from Finland without flying.
